I have been drinking fruit smoothies since about April/May. Around the first of June I read about green smoothies and have been making them every since. It is a GREAT way to get in your fruits and veggies.
The following is more of a guide than a recipe. I drink 4 or 5 of these a week.
The Green Monster
1 banana
1/2 cup spinach or 1/2 cucumber or 2 stalks celery
1/2 cup berries (any kind) or 1 apple or pear
2-3 tbsp plain yogurt
1 tbsp raw honey or blackstrap molasses
1/3 cup water
4-5 ice cubes
1/4 cup oats or flax seed (optional)
Blend all ingredients together in blender or food processor until smooth. Pour into cups. Makes 2 servings. I usually drink both. 🙂
